Resignations from Board of Directors

Following the conclusion of the recent referendum campaign, several of our long-time directors have decided to step back from their positions on the board.  We greatly appreciate their contributions to the electoral reform movement, thank them for their service and wish them all the best as they get re-acquainted with their families.

Nominations Requested for Interim Directors

Fair Voting BC will be holding our annual general meeting in the fall, at which time all board members will step down (as required by our constitution) and a new board will be elected, but given the many pressing questions facing us at this time, we will be holding an election to select four interim board members.  We therefore invited any of our members to nominate candidates for the board of directors or to stand for these positions themselves (we will accept self-nominations).  To nominate someone, they were to have sent an email to Antony Hodgson (antony.hodgson@gmail.com) by 10:00 pm on Sunday, June 28th containing the nominee's name and city of residence.

Voting in Interim Election

* Note:  please check your email for an official announcement shortly, but the board has decided to acclaim all the nominees, so no vote will be necessary.

If you would like to vote in this election, please check that your membership is current by contacting Diane Perry at membership@fairvoting.com.  If you are not currently a member, we encourage you to join.  You can join either online (www.fairvotingbc.com; see button on right hand column) or by sending an email to Diane Perry, membership@fairvotingbc.com.  Memberships are available for $20/year, but fees may be reduced or waived at the discretion of our membership chair, Diane Perry.  Typical reasons for granting reduced or waived fees are restricted income or recent contributions of time or funds to the referendum campaign.  In order to be eligible to vote, you must become a member by 10:00 pm on Friday, July 3rd, in order to allow time for processing.

Vote to be Held Online Using STV

The election itself will be held online using STV. Candidates' statements will be posted online by Monday evening, June 29nd, and the poll will open on Friday evening, July 3rd.  All members will receive an individual passcode which will enable them to vote once in the online poll.  The polls will close at 10:00 pm on Sunday, July 5th and the winners will be announced at that time.
